Their love story began in the Chemistry of Wine class at the University of Michigan in 2016. Ben was relentless—he was trying to persuade Rachel to study with him for weeks. On a cold winter day in December, he finally got his chance when he asked her to show him where the office hours were held.

 

Rachel, known for her dedication to work and studying alone, surprised Ben by agreeing. As they walked together to office hours and shared a laugh at the teacher's expense, their love story began.

Ben quickly learned about Rachel's playful personality and planned their first "real date" at Pinball Pete's, where they played arcade games until the early hours of the morning.

One month into their relationship, Ben invited Rachel to watch his high school hockey team play in Columbus, Ohio. Little did she know, it would turn into a weekend with his entire family and friends. Rachel fit in seamlessly and even mastered driving Becky's 10-person car (mini-bus).

Over the following year, they studied together in West Quad, attended countless date parties, and spent Saturdays cheering (and drinking) at tailgates.

​

Their shared moments became cherished memories, from spontaneous adventures to quiet evenings together. Rachel introduced Ben to her favorite movies and TV shows, while he shared his love of travel and new experiences.

​

They were the perfect blend of opposites, with one being wild and the other organized and reserved. Throughout the years, their love only grew stronger, like fine wine aging gracefully.
